Child Abuse Prevention Month

April was Child Abuse Prevention Month and across the state communities worked together to recognize the importance of strong families that build strong and healthy children. Thank you to Representative Campos for hosting an event at the capitol in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Watch this short video to hear thoughts from our DFPS leaders at this event. 


Family Event in Eastland, Texas

Eastland County CAPM Event

Faith Based and Community Engagement Specialist, JulieAnn Greenfield teamed up with the Community Engagement Staff at 2INgage to help Celebrate Kids and Families on April 22nd in Eastland. The Eastland County Child Welfare Board hosted a free hot dog lunch and resource event for children and families in Eastland. There was a great turn out by the community and a great way to end Child Abuse Prevention Month.


Walk the Walk 2023

Region 6 CAPM Walk

DFPS staff and community partners came together in April for the 2nd Annual Walk the Walk Event for child abuse prevention in Richmond, Texas. Attendees wore blue, got some exercise in and talked about the importance of child safety and nurturing strong families. Watch a short video about the event.


Missions Baseball Recognizes CAPM

Mission Baseball Go Blue Day

Friday April the 14th was Child Abuse Prevention Month night at the San Antonio Missions baseball game.

The FBCE Region 8 team – Lauren Garcia, Salina Ramos, and Jacob Gutierrez - set up a booth near the 3rd base gate and handed out lots of pencils, brochures, and hundreds of t-shirts. The Bexar County Child Welfare Board sponsored the t-shirts.  It was fun seeing so many blue t-shirts in the crowd.


Blue Sunday

April 30th, 2023 was Blue Sunday, a day were faith communities across the state come together to pray for children who have been abused and the community members who work to protect them. Many churches in Texas participated this year. The picture to the left is from First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of San Angelo.
