DFPS Announces Second Site for FBSS Pilot

Nueces County will be the second location for the Family-Based Safety Services Pilot, and today DFPS released a request for application (RFA) for the pilot site. The Texas Legislature directed DFPS to conduct pilots in two regions of the state. The purpose is:

  • To increase the quality, availability, and effectiveness of family preservation services so more families thrive and avoid future involvement with CPS.
  • To improve the safety, permanency, and well-being of children.
  • To test the approach of providing services through a single entity, called a family services contractor, that offers:
    • Case management.
    • A continuum of case oversight.
    • Quality community and paid services.
    • Interventions that meet the needs of the families.

You will find more on the FBSS Pilots on the DFPS website. You can also read the RFA on the State Comptroller's website.
