Mayor Pro Tem Atkins to kick off annual Home for the Holidays Celebration;
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant will join the campaign

What:             Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins and Dallas Cowboys’ #88 wide receiver Dez Bryant will kick off the Eighth Annual Home for the Holidays Celebration toy drive and adopt-a-family campaign. Bryant joined the campaign to address the growing need to adopt families during the holiday season.  This will be the final Home for the Holidays Celebration to be hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Atkins.

The need for the Home for the Holidays Celebration campaign continues to grow in District 8 with more families feeling the effects of the economic downturn. The goal of the campaign is to bring holiday joy to as many families as possible. In the past, over 1,000 children have been adopted through the Annual Home for the Holidays Celebration “Adopt A Family” Program since its inception.  In addition, 400 families have been adopted through the Annual Home for the Holidays Celebration “Adopt A Family” Program since the program began and more than 6,400 have been fed courtesy of the Annual Home for the Holidays Celebration “Holiday Feast Luncheon” since its inception.

Those wishing to contribute can drop off unwrapped, new toys, clothing items or gift cards at Dallas City Hall in the Flag Room (6EN) or at 5EN after the press conference.
