Dallas Love Field Opens New Baggage Claim Hall, Tunnel,
and Passenger Roadway Pick-up on Sept. 15
DALLAS – Dallas Love Field will open the new, Baggage Claim Hall, Passenger Roadway Pick-up and the tunnel to Parking Garage A on Monday, Sept. 15 to provide a more efficient travel experience for travelers in Dallas.
The new Baggage Claim Hall provides an open concept with four inclined carousels and four extended conveyor belts to expedite incoming luggage, which will allow multiple flights to unload baggage simultaneously. Passengers will also be able to see two new art pieces that have just been installed as part of the Love Field Modernization Program: a suspended aluminum sculpture in the Baggage Claim Hall, and glass wall tiles in the tunnel.
The passenger roadway pick-up will also open outside of the new Baggage Claim Hall, providing additional space for drivers picking up passengers. Passengers will be able to access Parking Garage A and the Ground Transportation vehicles on the lower level curbside from inside the Baggage Claim Hall through the renovated pedestrian tunnel
Completion of the new Baggage Claim Hall brings Love Field steps closer to completing the Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP) that began in 2009. Upcoming milestones include:
- Oct. 1 – Terminal 1 will close and United Airlines will relocate to the new Terminal, operating out of 2 new gates. Southwest will open 2 additional gates. New Food and Beverage and retail concessions will open.
- Oct. 13 – Wright Amendment will lift, allowing non-stop flights throughout the U.S. Virgin America will operate out of 2 new gates, bringing the total number of gates in the new Terminal to 20.
