City of Dallas sent this bulletin at 03/10/2014 10:58 AM CDTUnfortunately, we need to cancel this event. The Mayor will now be traveling to Washington, D.C. on this day on city business. Also, I have accepted a position with the Dallas Convention and Visitor’s Bureau as Vice President of Communications Marketing Division.
Those people who have already registered will receive a refund. We will work to reschedule this event in April. We apologize for the change.

The Evolution of Journalism and Government Communications
The rapid rise of social media has changed the landscape for news, news media, journalists and citizens who engage with government at all levels. The instantaneous nature of communications as well as the saturation possible across all channels has altered the how, what and why we communicate.
The City of Dallas and the Press Club of Dallas have partnered to sponsor a half-day seminar for bloggers, journalists, community activists and all who are interested in effectively communicating on public policy in a digital world.
This program is designed to orient reporters, editors and citizen journalists to the various levels of Dallas municipal government and to help connect them to the resources and technology to assist in their reporting.

Panel topics include an overview of Dallas municipal government, how technology has changed public access, government transparency and how technology can improve service delivery and communication.

The deadline to register for this event is Monday, March 17, 2014. Space is limited to the first 250 participants. Registration fees are $35 per person and include a continental breakfast and box lunch.
