DALLAS: Domingo Martínez is the New York Times Best
Selling author of The Boy Kings of Texas:
A Memoir, a novel that contrasts a violent and abusive upbringing in
Brownsville, Texas, with a dose of humor. The book has been praised for its honesty,
instilling in its readers an awareness of the power of hope and
self-determination. The Latino Cultural Center presents A
Conversation with Domingo Martinez, Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00
p.m. at the Latino
Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak, Dallas, TX 75204. The event is free and
open to the public.
The Boy
Kings of Texas: A Memoir is a Gold Medal Winner of the Independent
Publishers Book Award and was a finalist for The National Book Award in
2012. Martínez is a regular contributor to the National Public Radio
program This American Life and was
the recipient of the Bernard De Voto Fellowship for Non-Fiction at Bread Loaf
Writer’s Colony in 2013. The Boy Kings of Texas was recently approved
for an HBO series through Salma Hayek’s production company, Ventana Rosa.
About the Latino Cultural Center
The
Latino Cultural Center is a division of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural
Affairs. Established in 2003, the LCC’s mission is to serve as a regional
catalyst for the preservation, development and promotion of Latino and Hispanic
