INCIDENT DESCRIPTION: |
At 11:23 Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) responded to a 911 call for a structure fire at Supreme Systems Inc.; a commercial roofing company, located at 1355 South Walton Walker Boulevard, in southwest Dallas. When firefighters arrived, the found lots of smoke coming from a large one-story metal building at the southwest corner of the property. Though initial attack teams were able to make entry and put the flames out in just over half an hour, a second alarm was transmitted for manpower. There were an unspecified number of workers in the building when the fire started, doing some renovations related to the company's expansion, but thankfully no one was injured. Due to a small amount of flammable/combustible roofing-related materials stored within the building, DFR's HazMat Team was called out to monitor for run-off. Fire investigators determined that the fire started when a worker, who was welding near the ceiling, ignited the radiant barrier. The flames spread throughout the entire building, making it a total loss. |
