Statement from City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert on Upcoming Bond Election

The Dallas City Council took an important step on Wednesday to strengthen public safety by focusing our upcoming bond package solely on critical public safety infrastructure. The November 3, 2026 bond election will ask voters to close the remaining funding gap for the Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC) at UNT Dallas, ensuring the total project delivery remains on schedule. This modern academy will provide state-of-the-art training for Dallas police and our regional partners, reflecting our commitment to safer, stronger neighborhoods.

The $443M bond proposal also supports a Public Safety Training Complex at Dallas Executive Airport, completing the outdoor, driving, tactical, and range capabilities that will complement the LETC.

Additional investments include a consolidated property room, crime lab, and evidence vehicle storage facility; the relocation and modernization of our 911 and Emergency Operations Center; and replacement of the 73-year-old Fire Station No. 4 at Akard and Canton in downtown Dallas.

If approved by voters, these projects would modernize Dallas public safety operations and keep our focus on the future.
