On view August 29 through October 9, 2026
Dallas – The Latino Cultural Center (LCC) presents “No Te Dejes”, a solo exhibition by visual artist David Hanes-González, and will host a free an open to the public opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the LCC.
“No Te Dejes” explores the cultural and spiritual dimensions of the Mexican boxing community through photography and sculptural installation. Inspired by boxing gyms throughout Mexico, Hanes-González blends the religious iconography of a devotional altar with the raw materials and visual culture of the boxing ring. The exhibition examines how faith, ritual, discipline, and resilience shape both athletes, and their communities, within one of Mexico’s most celebrated athletic legacies.
David Hanes-González has spent the past four years living and working in Mexico City, reconnecting with the culture that shaped his family and continues to inform his artistic practice. His work investigates the intersections of sport, spirituality, and Mexican identity through visual storytelling mediums that highlight everyday acts of devotion, strength, and belonging.
