Birthday party for shelter dogs features family fun, adoptable pets and ice cream
DALLAS — Dallas Animal Services (DAS) invites the community to celebrate “Dogust”, the universal birthday of shelter dogs, during its First Fridays event from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
The free, family-friendly event transforms the shelter into the biggest birthday party of the summer, complete with adoptable dogs, interactive activities, giveaways and plenty of birthday-themed fun. More importantly, it shines a spotlight on the hundreds of dogs waiting for loving homes.
"Dogust is all about celebrating our shelter dogs and bringing the community together," said Nashla Kalifa, Manager of Foster & Volunteer Programs at Dallas Animal Services. "We hope families will come enjoy the festivities, meet some amazing dogs, and maybe even give one of them the greatest birthday gift of all, a loving home."
The First Fridays series is made possible thanks to support from the Louis B. and Mary Ratliff Animal Welfare Fund at The Dallas Foundation through a grant to Friends of Dallas Animal Services.

Grand Prize: Entry to win two round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets from Friends of Dallas Animal Services for those who foster or adopt that night

Community Resources: Information on adoption, fostering, volunteering and other ways to support pets in the Dallas community.
Every adoption and foster placement creates lifesaving space for additional animals entering the shelter and gives another pet the opportunity to find a loving home.
