RESCHEDULED: Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson to lead official business delegation to New York City

DALLAS—Next week, Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson will lead an official business delegation to New York City to spotlight the rise of “Y’all Street” and promote Dallas as America’s premier city for financial services, investment, and innovation.

The visit was originally scheduled to take place in February, but had to be rescheduled due to extreme winter weather in New York. Now, it will take place on Monday, April 13, and Tuesday, April 14.

During these two days, the delegation will meet with New York City based business executives to highlight Dallas as the premier destination for innovation and investment in the financial services sector. The delegation will highlight Dallas’s business-friendly climate.

Alongside Mayor Johnson and City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert, the delegation (as of Thursday, April 9) will consist of local business and civic leaders showcasing the Dallas business community’s full range and depth:

  • Craig Davis, President and CEO of Visit Dallas
  • Linda Foggie, Global Head of Real Estate & Corporate Services at Scotiabank
  • Gilbert Gerst, Chair of the Dallas Economic Development Corporation
  • Chris Heinbaugh, Chief Advocacy Officer at AT&T Performing Arts Center
  • Cynthia Marshall, President and CEO of Marshalling Resources
  • Vipin Nambiar, Founder and Managing Partner of HN Capital Partners
  • DeMetris Sampson, Former Managing Partner at Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, and DFW Airport Board Member
  • Nina Vaca, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Pinnacle Group
  • Ray Washburne, Chairman of Sunoco, LLC and Vice Chairman of Gillon Capital and Gillon Property Group
  • Wayne White, President and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas

Each member of the delegation will cover their own costs of travel and lodging.

“Dallas has been on an impressive streak of economic wins, and the future of Y’all Street is incredibly bright. But we’re not slowing down. That’s why I am leading this delegation to New York City—to meet with top business leaders and secure even more investment for Dallas,” said Mayor Johnson. “Our city is competing with other major cities like New York for premier businesses and financial institutions, and I’m proud to say that every member of this delegation is determined to win that competition.”

During Mayor Johnson’s Administration, over $27 billion in new development has enriched the cityscape, with more on the way. “Y’all Street” has captured the nation’s attention as Dallas emerges as the new capital of America’s financial services sector.

“As we bring the story of ‘Y’all Street’ to Wall Street, we’re also highlighting what makes Dallas exceptional—a strong quality of life paired with a business-friendly environment that continues to attract world-class companies and top talent,” said Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert. "We’re proud to showcase a city where companies can grow, talent can thrive, and innovation is supported by a strong, forward-looking infrastructure. And, I want to thank Mayor Johnson for his vision and for giving me the opportunity to be part of this important trip to New York City."

The Texas Stock exchange is set to launch trading in July, and major financial institutions—including Goldman Sachs and Scotiabank—are investing in the heart of Dallas. Goldman Sachs has its largest presence outside of New York City in Dallas, and the firm is expanding that presence with its new office building in the North End that will house over 5,000 employees. Additionally, Scotiabank’s new regional headquarters will create over 1,000 new high-paying jobs for Dallas.
