About the Poet Laureate Program Dallas Public Library, the Office of Arts and Culture and Deep Vellum launched the poet laureate program in April 2022 to recognize written verse and the poet’s role in sharing that art with the greater community.

Over a two-year term, the Poet Laureate will represent the City of Dallas as an ambassador of the literary arts by presenting their original poems at public schools, city council meetings, county board meetings and other community organizations.

The Youth Poet Laureate, who has a one-year term, will encourage and support the literary talent of young people pursuing creative endeavors and provide a platform for a youthful voice in Dallas.  This program is funded by Friends of the Dallas Public Library, Inc, the Joe M. and Doris R. Dealey Family Foundation, the Office of Arts & Culture and Deep Vellum. Please visit www.dallaslibrary.org/poetry for complete details.
