New Neighborhood Park Transforms Neglected Shopping Center into Community Space for Underserved Area

What

The City of Dallas will welcome Forest Audelia Park, a new neighborhood green space built on the site of a neglected parking lot at a former shopping center in northeast Dallas. The one-acre park expands access to recreational amenities and addresses existing gaps in park access. Dallas leaders have said the new park is a major investment in neighborhood revitalization and will strengthen and improve the Forest Audelia area. Serving an underserved area of Northeast Dallas, the park provides much-needed leisure opportunities for residents.

Forest Audelia Park was built entirely in-house by the Dallas Park and Recreation Department Facilities Services Division of skilled professionals. Construction involved removing asphalt, installing new landscaping, and adding playground, walking paths, benches, and various park amenities.
