Statewide Emergency Alert Test Scheduled for April 2

DALLAS - The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has requested a statewide test of emergency alert and warning systems on Thursday, April 2, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. During this time, jurisdictions across Texas—including the City of Dallas—will participate in coordinated testing activities.

Residents may receive one or more types of test alerts. These may include:

  • Alerts sent to mobile phones
  • Outdoor warning sirens
  • Other emergency notification systems, which may generate multiple alerts

These coordinated tests are an important part of ensuring that emergency alerting tools remain reliable, effective, and ready to use when they are needed most.

The City of Dallas reminds the public: Please DO NOT call 911 if you receive a test alert. Only call 911 in the event of an actual emergency. No action is required from residents during this test.
