St. Patrick's Day Event Traffic Advisory

DALLAS - Please be advised that the following events, St. Paddy’s Day Dash Down GreenvilleDallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and FestivalDallas St. Patrick's Concert - San Patricio Music Fest, and St. Patrick’s Day Block Party, are scheduled to occur on March 14. Event organizers project 90,000+ attendees. 

Road closures related to the many special events and the large volume of pedestrian traffic along Greenville Avenue will impact traffic around Greenville Avenue from Park Lane to Belmont Avenue between 6:30 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. To avoid street closures related to the events, avoid Greenville Avenue, and use Skillman Street, McMillan Avenue, and Central Expressway to travel southbound and northbound. 

Residents and businesses located between Central Expressway and Greenville Avenue should utilize entrances and exits west of Greenville Avenue. 

For the parade, four pedestrian crossing points will be available after 1 p.m. at Southwestern Boulevard, Lovers Lane, Milton Street, and University Boulevard.

St. Paddy’s Day Dash Down Greenville 5K 

Details: The 5K race starts at 8 a.m. at E. University Blvd. (south of Energy Square). It will proceed east on E. University Blvd., turn left onto Skillman St., turn left onto Southwestern Boulevard, turn right onto Caruth Haven Ln., and turn left onto Greenville Ave. and finish on Greenville Ave. east of Energy Square. Cleanup will conclude at 11 a.m. 

The following road closures begin at 7 a.m. and reopen immediately as runners pass through: 

  • E. University Blvd. – from N. Central Expwy. to Skillman St. 
  • Skillman St. – from E. University Blvd. to Southwestern Blvd. 
  • Southwestern Blvd. – from Skillman St. to Caruth Haven Ln. 
  • Caruth Haven Ln. – from Southwestern Blvd. to Greenville Ave. 
  • Greenville Ave. – from Caruth Haven Ln. to east of Energy Square.

Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival 

Details: The event will require closing Greenville Avenue from Park Lane to Mockingbird Lane from 9:45 a.m. until the post parade cleanup is complete (estimated time 4 p.m.). The parade starts at 11 a.m. at Greenville Avenue and Blackwell Street. The parade will proceed south on Greenville Avenue to SMU Boulevard, turn right onto SMU Boulevard and disperse. 

Parking is NOT permitted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in these locations: 

  • Parade route 
  • Central Expressway Service Road from Mockingbird Lane to Park Lane 
  • Meadows Building 
  • Campbell Center 
  • Comerica Bank 
  • AT&T Concentra Care 
  • CVS and Office Depot parking lots 
  • The Gild at 8350 N. Central Expy. 

Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Concert – San Patricio Music Fest 

Details: This event will consist of a concert taking place at Energy Square (4925 Greenville Ave.) from 1 to 8 p.m. The concert will use the same event space as the St. Paddy’s Day Dash Down Greenville 5K after the race has ended.  

The following road closures begin at 10 a.m. and reopen at 9 p.m.: 

E. University Blvd. – from N. Central Expwy. to Greenville Ave.

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party 

Details: The annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party will take place between the 2700 and 3000 block of Greenville Avenue. North and southbound traffic on Greenville Avenue will be detoured east to Matilda Street. All closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. The closures will include: 

  • Goodwin Avenue from Worcola Street to Matilda Street 
  • Vanderbilt Avenue from Worcola Street to Matilda Street 
  • Vickery Boulevard from Worcola Street to Matilda Street. 
  • Greenville Avenue from McCommas Blvd to Belmont Boulevard 

The following streets will be designated resident traffic only – no through traffic from 7 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. 

  • Greenville Avenue from McCommas Boulevard to Belmont Avenue 
  • Morningside Avenue 
  • Mercedes Avenue 
  • Merrimac Avenue 
  • Monticello Avenue 
  • Ridgedale Avenue 
  • Vanderbilt Avenue 
  • Goodwin Avenue 
  • Vickery Boulevard

DART 

Additional Red and Orange Line train service will be added March 14 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., from Plano to Mockingbird, Lovers Lane, and Park Lane stations. 

From Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Dallas customers can ride the Green Line and transfer to either the Orange or Red Line in downtown Dallas. 

Passengers riding the TRE can transfer to the Orange or special event Red Line trains at Victory Station. 

Bus routes 3 and 17 will be on detour all day until the parade has ended. Routes 105, 209 and 249 will operate on their regular routes.
