Welcome to
The Code Compliance Connection!
March 2026
Small Actions. BIG Impact.
Spring is in the air! 🌷
At Code Compliance Services, we know that small actions can create a big impact in our communities.
This newsletter is your source for updates, tips, resources, and success stories that show how residents like you help keep Dallas safe, clean, and beautiful. Each month, we’ll share ways you can play a part in keeping our city thriving.
In this edition you will find the following:
.
From the field to City Hall, Code Compliance Services continues to be guided by a strong commitment to service, accountability, and community care.
In this edition of Director’s Message, Assistant Director Jeremy Reed shares insight into his leadership role and what a “typical” day looks like—aligning teams, removing obstacles, supporting supervisors, and ensuring our work stands strong in the field, in court, and before Council.
He also discusses his focus over the next 30 days, including strengthening consistency across operations, enhancing documentation and supervision, and completing key Council briefings related to neighborhood events and nuisance enforcement that could lead to important code updates.
Success this quarter, he notes, means internal alignment, strong supervision, and maintaining the public’s trust by ensuring our work is fair, professional, and precise.

Supporting Lifelong Learning in Our Community
Code Compliance outreach teams were proud to partner with Dallas College in support of recent Lifelong Learning events at the Richland and Mountain View campuses.
These events highlighted the importance of continued education, connection, and access to resources for adults aged 55 and older. The Lifelong Learning Program provides affordable and flexible opportunities that promote personal enrichment and community engagement.
We were honored to be present, share information about City services, and collaborate with our community partners to support Dallas residents at every stage of life.

Waste- In- Place Initiative
Since launching in January, the City of Dallas Code Compliance Services and Keep Dallas Beautiful have been teaming up to bring the Waste-In-Place program directly to local elementary schools.
Through these engaging campus visits, students learn how everyone plays an important role in keeping Dallas clean and why preventing litter makes a lasting impact in their neighborhoods. It’s inspiring to see young residents excited about doing their part to care for their city!
We’re just getting started—more school stops are scheduled throughout March, so stay tuned as we continue spreading the message of community pride and responsibility.

Setting the Standard in Service: Neighborhood Code Delivers
We are proud to share that we have reached 98% compliance with our citizen contact requirements. This milestone reflects the strong collaboration and commitment of our Administrative Specialist, Kristina Hunter, along with our District Managers, Supervisors, and frontline team members.
Because of their coordinated efforts and focus on responsive service, overall feedback has shown significant improvement.
A big shoutout to Neighborhood Code for setting the standard and delivering results — job well done!

Mosquito Season Preparation Checklist
As mosquito season approaches, early preparation is key to reducing mosquito activity and protecting public health.
Here's how staff and the community can help get ready:
_______________________
Trim, Clear, Maintain:
Peak Season is Here
Peak season is upon us, and Code Compliance is asking all residents and property owners to help keep our community safe, clean, and accessible. Please ensure that high weeds and grass are maintained below 12 inches.
Vegetation along streets, alleys, and sidewalks should be trimmed to prevent any obstruction of visibility or passage. Properties should also remain free of litter, including grass clippings, discarded trash, and debris.
For more information on common code requirements or to learn about potential violations, please visit us at: Code Compliance Neighborhood Code

Arlene Harrison
Not all heroes wear capes—some show up with a can-do attitude and a heart ready to serve.
Meet Arlene Harrison. For nearly 10 years, she has dedicated her career to the City of Dallas, serving in roles ranging from Office Assistant to her current position as Supervisor in the North Central Neighborhood Code District. Throughout her journey, Arlene has consistently found meaningful ways to recognize and uplift her team—but this time, she went even further.
Arlene recently provided mental wellness bags for her staff. When asked why, she humbly replied, “These guys deal with a lot, and in spite of what they face, they continue to show up.”
That kind of leadership and compassion speaks volumes.
We proudly salute Arlene Harrison for serving with a true spirit of excellence.
