Join us for the 2025 Virgen de Guadalupe Art Exhibition, curated by longtime organizer Jose Vargas, featuring over 70 artists whose works pay tribute to the beloved dark-skinned Madonna who has inspired generations. Experience a powerful blend of tradition and creativity through paintings, sculpture, and mixed media works that celebrate nearly 500 years of cultural and spiritual legacy. In association with the Virgen de Guadalupe Art Exhibition, professor of Mexican American studies and art history, Carlos Rovelo will present a lecture over the cultural iconography of La Virgen de Guadalupe exploring her origins, symbolism, and evolving cultural meaning.
For over 20 years, Professor Rovelo has researched and lectured on this topic; this presentation takes us on a journey, emphasizing how the Virgin of Guadalupe remains a dynamic cultural icon, continually reimagined in new artistic forms while preserving her timeless message of compassion, hope, and unity.
