Día de Muertos: The Happiest Memory
Exhibition at Bath House Cultural Center celebrates loved ones through art inspired by a single joyful memory.
October 11-November 8, 2025
Reception with the Artists: Sunday, October 12, 2025 (5-7 PM)
Featuring live music by Jacco Velarde and Pedro Velasco, art activities, and the unveiling of the new mural painting “Swimmers at the Old Bath House, White Rock Lake.” Free and open to the public.
Inspired by the Day of the Dead—one of Mexico’s most beloved and representative traditions—the Día de Muertos: The Happiest Memory exhibition celebrates the deep cultural and spiritual meaning of this holiday. The show includes art in a variety of media and altar installations by local, regional, and national artists.
Día de Muertos: The Happiest Memory honors the departed by asking artists to reflect on one joyful memory of someone they have lost—one vivid moment that captures the spirit of their loved one—and to create a work of art or altar inspired by that recollection. While we all carry many fond memories of those who have passed, this exhibition invites a focus on a single instance of happiness: a memory that continues to bring warmth and light even in absence.
The artists featured in this show are Trish Allen, Paulina Altamirano, Henry Aschner, Rita Barnard, Nancy Bateman, Kristin E. Bazan, Elizabeth Bentley, Jon Black, Lori Brennan, Maria Huron Brereton, Judith Burkart, Kimberly Byers, Hermila A. Cuevas, Jennifer Culver & Catharine Culver, Steve Danner, Enrique De Altamirano, Kathleen B. Mural Painting Unveiling
The Bath House Cultural Center is proud to present the unveiling of its newest mural, Swimmers at the Old Bath House, White Rock Lake, created by participants of the 2024–2025 Muralism Program. Guided by Dallas artist Genaro Hernandez, the program introduces local artists to the techniques and creative possibilities of mural painting while transforming the lake-level spaces of the center with a collection of original artworks for the community to enjoy.
This year’s mural was brought to life by artists Heaven-Leigh Pettis, Ivanevid Llamas, and Deyzia Heath, with the support of Silvia Flores, Jacinta Hernández, and Mylan Nguyen. Together, they celebrate the Bath House’s history and its connection to White Rock Lake through a vibrant, site-specific artwork.
The unveiling will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM during the reception for the Día de Muertos: The Happiest Memory exhibition.
