Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson and All Stars Project kick off Dallas Works summer youth employment program

Dallas, TX — Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson and the All Stars Project, Inc. have officially kicked off the fourth year of the Dallas Works summer youth employment program.

“I am thrilled to partner with the All Stars Project, Inc. for an exciting new year of Dallas Works,” said Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson. “Dallas is a city of genuine opportunity for everyone of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Dallas Works unlocks the full potential of our city’s youth and sets them on a path to success while strengthening our economy, our communities, and our city as a whole for generations to come.”

Dallas Works is a comprehensive workforce development initiative launched by Mayor Johnson in 2020. The summer program has provided hundreds of young people with valuable internship experiences, career-focused learning opportunities, and access to recruitment events.

“We’re honored to partner with Mayor Johnson to strengthen Dallas’ workforce and help more young people discover opportunities across the city,” said Chris Street, ASP President and CEO. “Our sophisticated, evidence-driven approach sparks ambition, empowers students and creates meaningful paths to success alongside Dallas’ top educational institutions and employers.”

Dallas Works creates positive developmental experiences that ignite young people’s desire to learn, grow, and pursue skill-building opportunities and career pathways that empower them to build successful futures.

Dallas Works has reached over 1,000 students at Dallas ISD, Dallas College, and the University of North Texas at Dallas through more than 15 outreach events and skill-building workshops which include communication coaching, resume writing support, and opportunities to interact with caring professionals.

Nearly 150 students have signed up to join Dallas Works this year, and several companies have signed on to host Dallas Works interns. These companies include Hunt Oil Company, Bank of America, Dallas Regional Chamber, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of Texas, Parkland Hospital, AMLI Residential, Dallas College, The Arnold Companies, and KFM Engineering.

The City of Dallas plans to host approximately 18 high school interns in various municipal departments as well, including Dallas Water Utilities, Mayor and City Council, Office of Equity & Inclusion, Dallas Police Department, Parks and Recreation, Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability, City Marshals Office, and IT Services.
