City of Dallas Provides Update on Severe Weather Response Efforts

DALLAS - Overnight and morning storms that swept through North Texas created power outages across the City of Dallas and caused signal lights to go out during rush hour today. Here’s a summary of what different agencies dealt with:

  • Oncor reported 75,000 outages this morning, including several city facilities
  • Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to numerous reports of wires down and traffic accidents
  • Dallas Police responded to more than 50 traffic accidents after midnight – not all weather related, as well as debris on the roadways
  • Majority of 311 calls were for downed trees and traffic signal operations
  • Regarding sanitation services, residents will be updated through our website, mobile app, and the Communications/Customer Experience Department

More than 90 traffic signals were on flash at some point; 78 traffic signals went dark. Transportation crews are prioritizing key intersections and monitoring conditions for safe restoration.

Remember to treat intersections with signal lights out as a four-way stop.

The City of Dallas will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary. Residents are encouraged to report storm-related issues through 3-1-1 and stay informed through official city communications.
