In March, we celebrate women and their contributions to history, culture, arts, and society. The Office of Arts and Culture highlights events across Dallas that honor strong women through our cultural centers and partners!

 Join The Smart Project's Creative Studio Drawing Workshop for Youth!
The Smart Project provides Dallas youth with creative resources, mentorship, and a supportive space to grow. This hands-on workshop fosters self-expression and artistic exploration.
When: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sat., March 29, 2025 Where: South Dallas Cultural Center (3400 S Fitzhugh Ave., Dallas, TX 75210)

 Spring Break Improv Camp for Kids at Oak Cliff Cultural Center
Kids ages 9-12 can spend spring break, learning the art of improv with Lauren Oxford at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center. This fun, judgment-free camp helps young performers build confidence, stagecraft, and teamwork through play.
Oxford, a Dallas native and seasoned improv performer with Four Day Weekend and Dallas Comedy Club, brings years of experience in comedy and education to this exciting program.
Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Drop-off: 8:45 a.m., Pick-up: 12:30 p.m.) Dates: March 10-14, 2025 Where: Oak Cliff Cultural Center (223 W. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, TX 75208)

Latino Cultural Center to Present Two New Dynamic Exhibitions
Mikey Hernandez: Finding Balance III Hernandez’s large-scale abstract works, created with watercolor, ink, and pastels, reflect mindfulness and meditation. Inspired by cosmic and topographical landscapes, his art invites viewers into a space of introspection and self-awareness.
Saxon Martinez: Landscape of Creatures Martinez reimagines the piñata, blending organic and geometric forms to explore its transformation in urban and natural landscapes. His work challenges traditional interpretations, offering a fresh perspective on this cultural icon.
Both exhibitions invite audiences to experience art in new and thought-provoking ways

Public Art Community Meeting for Trinity Strand Trailhead Project
Residents are encouraged to attend and share insights about their community to help shape the vision for the upcoming art installation.
Public feedback will play a vital role in defining the project's scope and ensuring the artwork reflects the spirit of the area.

Closing Soon: Public Art Opportunity at Old East Dallas Work Yard Park
Application Deadline: March 7, 2025
This opportunity invites creatives to design a piece that reflects the area's rich and diverse cultural heritage, highlighting the experiences of the local community.
The selected artwork should be engaging, inclusive, and thoughtfully integrated into the park’s environment, fostering a sense of pride and connection among visitors.
With a maximum budget of $95,000, this project offers artists the chance to make a lasting impact through public art.
