DALLAS - The Latino Cultural Center (LCC) announces the opening for “Quince Latinas: One Common Thread”. This exhibition offers a small step forward in advancing equity for women in the art world, highlighting the cultural diversity of the Americas while presenting a variety of art forms in one exhibit.
The opening reception is free and open to the public and will occur from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. The exhibition will be on view Jan. 25 through Feb. 28, 2025.
Participating Artists include Ivonne Acero, Leticia Alaniz, Judy Baca, Myra Barraza, Fannie Brito, Sara Cardona, Adriana Cobo, Maria Gloria Echauri, Amalia El Masri, Angel Faz, Tina Fuentes, Leticia Huerta, Diana Marquis, Tina Medina & Maria Teresa Garcia Pedroche.
Artist and curator, Viola Delgado, developed an exhibit featuring five Latina artists in 2016, entitled “Cinco Latinas”. Three years later, in 2019, “Diez Latinas” and now the culmination of this curatorial project is “Quince Latinas: One Common Thread”.
The goal for these exhibits has been to shine the spotlight on women artists, specifically Latina artists, whose work is underrepresented in galleries, museum, and private collections. The participating artists have represented a variety of countries and states of origin, such as Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Paraguay, California and Texas. The works of art also showcase a variety of media: painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics.
The LCC is a division of the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture. The mission of the LCC is to serve as a catalyst for the preservation, development and promotion of Latino arts and culture in Dallas.
