Dallas City Council awards more than $47 Million for key components of Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Master Plan

DALLAS - The City Council awarded over $47 million in architectural and engineering design contracts Wednesday for Components 3 and 4 of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) Master Plan, making progress to transform Dallas into a premier global convention destination. 

The Council awarded a $25,137,244 million contract to Gensler, to provide architectural and engineering design services for the renovation and reconstruction of the Dallas Memorial Auditorium (Arena) – Component Three.   

Gensler, along with their team comprised of 40.59% Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise (M/WBE) participation, will support McKissack and McKissack, project manager for Dallas Memorial Auditorium, the future home for the WNBA Dallas Wings. 

City Council also approved a $22,261,116 million contract to KAI/Alliance, LC (dba KAI Design), a 74.74% MWBE team for architectural and engineering design services for Component Four renovation and reconstruction of The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL).  

KAI will join the TBAAL project management team, led by Dikita Enterprises, Inc, as the Architecture and Engineer. TBAAL is a nationally recognized multi-discipline arts institution which has been part of the Dallas arts fabric for more than 40 years.
