Honorable Jesse Moreno Celebrates the Sale of 711 S. St. Paul St.

DALLAS - Council Member Jesse Moreno is elated to see that the vacant property at 711 S. St. Paul St. is being sold to a developer today. This property has a troubled history under the City of Dallas’ care and its demolition in a mere few months will carve the way for a higher purpose.

This summer, the Council Member’s team and him identified significant concerns with this property, including approximately a dozen unauthorized squatters living on-site. The resulting biological hazards, debris, building deterioration, and security concerns plagued this building and the area around it for far too long. He appreciates the City’s swift action in addressing these concerns after he raised them and in securing this building from unauthorized access.

This land in the City is very valuable and he is excited to see it flourish under new ownership.

“The sale of this property and subsequent demolition is the only appropriate course of action in this case,” said Council Member Moreno. “I support efforts to pursue other opportunities to relinquish unused facilities for higher purposes in the City.  I look forward to celebrating the revitalization that will be seen in Downtown Dallas as a result today’s action,” Moreno added.

Council Member Jesse Moreno is the representative of District 2 in the City of Dallas. He serves as Chair of the Housing & Homelessness Solutions Committee, Vice-Chair of the Parks, Trails, & Environment Committee, and as a member on various other committees including Public Safety. Council Member Moreno enjoys living in District 2 as a third-generation resident with his wife and daughter.
