Media Advisory: Governor Abbott Directs Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff in Honor of Officer Darron Burks

In honor of the life and public service of Officer Darron Burks, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has directed flags of the State of Texas and the United States in the City of Dallas to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The governor's letter followed a request from Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson.

Individuals, businesses, municipalities, counties, and other political subdivisions and entities in Dallas and the surrounding area may fly flags at half-staff during the same period as a sign of honor and respect. Mayor Johnson previously asked for City of Dallas flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Officer Burks.

Governor Abbott's letter to Mayor Johnson may be accessed here.
