Tap In Dallas Podcast Features Melissa Dease: A Deep Dive into Dallas Public Library Programs
We are thrilled to announce that this month's Tap In Dallas podcast features an insightful interview with Melissa Dease, the Community Relations Administrator at Dallas Public Libraries (DPL). Following the success of our previous newsletter highlighting the Summer of Safety program, we're excited to delve deeper into how DPL’s initiatives are making a significant impact on our community.
Summer of Safety and Beyond: Engaging Kids and Families
In our latest episode, Melissa Dease shares her enthusiasm for creating enriching and enjoyable programs for children throughout the summer. “We strive to provide positive things for kids to do during the summer, maybe learn something a little, but have fun doing it,” Melissa emphasizes. The Summer of Safety program exemplifies this mission by offering a variety of activities that not only entertain but also educate.
Incentives and Participation
One of the standout features of DPL’s summer programs is the incentives for participation. Kids are encouraged to join, and their engagement is rewarded, fostering a love for learning and exploration. This year, an impressive 6,500 kids and 2,200 adults have registered for the SMART Summer program, and actively participating in various activities. These numbers highlight the community’s trust and reliance on DPL’s offerings.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
Melissa underscores the importance of accessibility, stating, “You never have to pay for a program at the Dallas library.” With 30 libraries to choose from, every family can find a convenient location to participate in these enriching experiences. Many parents have expressed gratitude, noting that without DPL’s free programs, they wouldn’t be able to provide such valuable opportunities for their children.
