Dallas Animal Services Offers $4 Microchips and ID Tags to Pet Owners Ahead of July 4th

DALLAS -Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is preparing for the expected increase in intakes during the 4th of July fireworks celebrations with a two-day low-cost microchip, collar, and ID tag event. This event is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of our beloved pets.

“While fireworks may be a source of joy for some, they can be a source of terror for many pets,” explains Paul Ramon, Director (interim). “Our goal is to prevent the distress of a lost pet by ensuring as many pets as possible are chipped and tagged. This will enable us to swiftly reunite them with their owners, alleviating the strain on our current overcapacity situation at DAS.”

Pet owners can easily access our services at 1818 North Westmoreland Road from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 and Wednesday, July 3. They can receive a microchip, collar, and custom engraved ID tag for their pet. This service is available to city of Dallas residents with a suggested donation of $4 to Friends of Dallas Animal Services. Pets do not need to accompany their owner to receive an ID tag or collar but must be present to receive a microchip. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier.

Fireworks are illegal in the City of Dallas, and the city code requires all dogs and cats to be microchipped.
