Development Services Department to Hold Public Meeting on Proposed Changes to Digital Billboards Ordinance on July 9

DALLAS - The City of Dallas Development Services Department (DSD) has scheduled a public meeting on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 6 p.m. to discuss proposed changes to the city's billboard regulations. The meeting will be held at the DSD Training Center at 400 S. Zang Blvd., C95, Dallas, TX 75208. This meeting aims to amend Chapter 51A of the Dallas Development Code's non-premise expressway sign provisions, enhancing both relocation rules and non-conformance enforcement procedures.

On August 23, 2023, the Dallas City Council voted to initiate this authorized hearing, marking a significant step towards modernizing the city's signage regulations. The proposed amendments will impact provisions in sections 51A-7.307 (relocation of certain detached non-premise signs), 51A-7.308 (digital detached non-premise signs) and Division 51A-7.700 (non-conformance and enforcement procedures).

The public meeting seeks to gather community input on the proposed changes, allowing residents, business owners and stakeholders to voice their opinions and suggestions. This collaborative effort aims to ensure the updated regulations reflect the community's needs and expectations.

  • July 2024: Public Meeting and Comment Period Begins
  • August 2024: Special Sign District Advisory Committee (SSDAC)
  • September 2024: City Plan Commission (CPC)
  • City Council: Date to be Announced

All community members are encouraged to participate in this process by attending the public hearing and providing feedback. This is a valuable opportunity to influence the future landscape of Dallas and ensure the city’s signage regulations serve the best interests of its residents and businesses.
