Dallas Animal Services Celebrates National Pet ID Week

Dallas Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is celebrating National Pet ID Week April 17 through April 23 by unveiling a new ID tag machine donated by Friends of Dallas Animal Services. Every pet adopted or fostered from DAS will go home with a complimentary custom ID tag.

During National Pet ID Week, DAS is encouraging pet owners to ensure their pet is wearing a collar with ID tags at all times. DAS also offers microchips, a permanent form of identification, for $10 by appointment at BeDallas90.org

ID tags facilitate faster reunions for lost pets, often without a need to bring the pet to the shelter. A microchip is a secondary form of identification for extra security and can help shelters reunite pets with their owners in case they end up at a shelter without an ID tag.

DAS sets up adopted pets for success by providing spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchip and microchip tag, collar, leash, a free wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals valid for 14 days after adoption, a free week of virtual 1-on-1 dog training with the Good Pup app, a coupon for Petco, and other giveaways.
