City of Dallas to Host Welcoming Interactive Conference, Showcasing Immigrant Inclusion and Racial Equity Efforts

DALLAS- The City of Dallas proudly announces its selection as the host city for the Welcoming Interactive Conference in partnership with Welcoming America. Set for April 10-12, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, this conference will spotlight successful practices in immigrant inclusion and advance discussions on racial equity. This event anticipates an attendance of 800 individuals and notable guests, including former Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings and NBA Mavericks champion, 14-time All-Star, and Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki.

Did you know that approximately 30% of Dallas' workforce consists of immigrants? Since 2017, the City of Dallas has been committed to fostering a more welcoming and inclusive environment, focusing on immigrant inclusion and racial equity.

"The Welcoming Interactive is a one-of-a-kind convening bringing great thinkers and ideas together from across the nation and internationally. It showcases and celebrates the best practices of immigrant inclusion ranging from an array of policy issues such as economic and educational opportunity, civic engagement, equitable access, and safe, connected communities. We are elated to be able to host this year's convening and to spotlight our local efforts in Dallas,” said Liz Cedillo- Pereira, Assistant City Manager.

According to Dr. Lindsey Wilson, Director of City of Dallas Office of Equity & Inclusion, "The Welcoming Interactive Conference is an opportunity to explore innovative practices and collectively work towards building more inclusive communities.” Dr. Wilson  reports "The City of Dallas is proud to be the first certified Welcoming City in Texas and remains committed to a Dallas where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

The Welcoming Interactive Conference will feature sessions led by diverse experts, covering topics such as immigrant inclusion, economic development, and civic engagement. Esteemed speakers will include representatives from various city departments and community organizations, providing valuable insights and strategies for creating inclusive communities.
