The Oak Cliff Cultural Center presents Selena214 celebration from March 20 through 24

DALLAS --214Selena events pay homage to the “Queen of Tejano” Selena Quintanilla-Perez while celebrating the diverse community that continues to carry her legacy. Now in its ninth year, this celebration of the musical icon has grown into a signature series that honors the life and music of “La Reina”.

The tribute begins with a conversation between Oak Cliff Cultural Center Manager Rafael Tamayo and host of the “Anything for Selena” podcast and Executive Director of Futuro Studios, Maria Garcia. The discussion will be held on Instagram Live through the @oakcliffculturalcenter page at Noon, Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2024.

“It’s amazing to see the community come together in celebrating an impactful figure like Selena, especially when we see her memory continually inspire future generations,” said Oak Cliff Cultural Center Manager, Rafael Tamayo.

On Thursday, Mar. 21, Olmo Market in Oak Cliff will host a Loteria night with special prizes, merch, photo booth, food, and music. The 214Selena Art Show will then host a pop-up art exhibit featuring artists from throughout the state of Texas opening on Friday, Mar. 22 at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center and Top Ten Records simultaneously, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Texas Theatre will screen the 1997 Selena biopic beginning at 7 p.m. Finishing the evening will be a “Cumbia Party” at Top Ten Records featuring Svani Quintanilla aka “Principe Q” - nephew to the late singer and son of Abie Quintanilla III alongside Areal the DJ from Houston, TX from 10 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday, the Latino Cultural Center will host the Selena Market from 1 to 6 p.m. with specialty vendors and artisans, pop-up food carts, music from DJ’s Eternos, Irasema, and Storm, the famous lookalike and talent contest, karaoke, loteria, live art by Ponchaveli and other activities for the whole family.
