A World-class theater festival will take place during 3 weeks in Dallas. Teatro Dallas’ own International Theater Festival arrives in its XXI edition.

February 10th
México – Group: Corazón Compañía Creativa
PERSONA – Inspired by the film by Ingmar Bergman, directed by Guttenberg Brito
PERSONA is the story of Elisabet, a renowned actress who suddenly decides to fall silent while portraying Electra. She retreats to a beach house in the company of Alma, her nurse. Through their daily interactions, the emotional relationship between the two women fluctuates between assistance, hostility, and sexual tension.
The silence of one woman is the silence of all women. PERSONA invites women not to remain silent and to raise their voices. Selected audience members will take the stage and enjoy tea and a photo exhibition. Music is present throughout as a voice yearning to be heard. Ages 18+

La Celestina – Written by Fernando de Rojas directed by David Picotto
In this free version of La Celestina, recreated with a Clown technique, the classic voices of the work by Fernando de Rojas pass through Lita, played by Julieta Daga, who risks death perpetually; only her hands sustain a piece of scenery that has fallen on top of her. Everything hangs by a thread, and she has little strength left, but she will laugh, cry, and enjoy until the end. La Celestina, Lita’s tragicomedy, is a scenic the clown intervention that traverses the classic text.

Venezuela – Marathon Producciones (NYC)
Una Buena Abogada – Written by Marc Egea directed by José Luis Useche
Una Buena Abogada reveals they story of a man is in jail accused of having committed a heinous crime. A few weeks before the trial begins, the man has not managed to have a court-appointed lawyer take charge of his defense. Just when he is about to give up, he receives a visit from a good lawyer willing to defend him. This show, with award-winning performances by Zindia Pino and José Francisco Terán, received the 2022 Talia and ATI awards in New York City for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Production.

The in-person talk back, which will be in the Main Gallery among diverse works spanning 30 years, will provide a guided tour and insights into the creative process of the artist.
With the artist present to connect the dots of past, present, and future, the talk back will be an opportunity to reflect on the ever-evolving role of the artist in society, the impact of generational making, and the dialog of contemporary art practices addressing the urgent needs of individuals and community, while challenging popular notions of the purpose of art and culture and meaning in everyday life. This event is free and open to the public.

 Join us on a captivating artistic journey spanning three decades as we delve into the multi-faceted world of Fred Villanueva, a visionary artist. “Trayectorias/Trajectories” is an exhibition that invites you to explore the depths of creativity, expression, and introspection, all intertwined with the rich tapestry of Latino Identity, Politics, Consumerism, Spirituality, Ritual, Abstraction, and the ever-evolving role of the artist in society. Experience the fusion of tradition and innovation, introspection and commentary, as we navigate the intricate web of Trayectorias/Trajectories.
About the Artist Fred Villanueva (b. 1973-) creates large scale paintings, sculptures, and time-based installations. His work combines images with abstract and figurative styles. Fred has exhibited in New York City, across the USA, Madrid, Spain, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and more recently at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Delurk Gallery North Carolina, Mary Tomas Gallery Dallas, Artes de La Rosa Cultural Center in Fort Worth, and the Dallas Latino Cultural Center.
 One of the common denominators that the artistic masters shared was a strong understanding of anatomy. This ignited a passion in JC Barba for studying human physiology. During this journey of learning the human anatomy, Barba has created an anatomy book called “Creation of Man.” This exhibit is an extension of this book in a Fine Arts Gallery Setting.
About the Artist JC Barba is a husband, father, author, and artist. Barba is an Anatomy Instructor working for several educational and professional institutions, offering several of live anatomy demos. Such institutions include DFW International Airport, The Latino Cultural Center, Booker T. Washington High School of Performing Arts and Visual Arts, and more. Barba also has experience in animation and has received several of recognitions for his works of art.
