Statement by Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on Pensions

DALLAS - The following statement was issued by Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins in advance of the January 11, 2024, meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Pensions:

“The City is taking decisive steps to address this challenge head-on, and I want to thank the city staff for their efforts to develop fiscally responsible solutions for our city pensions. Our city is in a strong financial position, and we remain on schedule to submit our Funding Soundness Restoration Plan to the Texas Pension Review Board this fall. We are committed to finalizing a funding plan that serves our community, police and fire, and our employees – and we will do it without compromising our ability to address the needs of this city today or in the future.”

The Ad Hoc Committee on Pensions will reconvene on February 8, 2024.
