City of Dallas Completes Remediation of Former Blue Star Recycling Site
In 2021, the City acquired a property that was the site of a former shingle recycling company. After coordinating removal of the “shingle mountain” left by the former owner, the City noted a limited area contained lead levels above regulatory standards.
On Monday, August 28, 2023, the City began remediation, removing 40,000 cubic yards of soil. The City officially completed cleanup on October 18, 2023, two weeks earlier than projected. The work consisted of the cleanup, soil and fill removal, and restoration of the site back to residential standards.
