Readout of Mayor Johnson’s official visit to Dijon, France

Mayor Johnson arrived in Paris, France on Sunday after traveling on a direct Air France flight from Dallas Fort Worth Airport. The mayor has traveled to France to take part in high-level meetings with government officials and business leaders with the purpose of promoting Dallas and strengthening business and tourism ties between Dallas and France.

On Monday morning, Mayor Johnson met with representatives of the United States Embassy in Paris, including Scott Pozil, Senior Commercial Officer; Amy Scheldbauer, Minister Counselor of Economic Affairs, Environment, Technology and Health; and Richard Johns, United States Consul to Lyon. During the meeting, Mayor Johnson was briefed on the importance of trade and investment between Texas and France.

In the afternoon, Mayor Johnson traveled to Dijon, France – Dallas’s Sister City – and was greeted by Bertrand Fort, Director of International Relations for Dijon. Bertrand worked in close collaboration with Ambassador Jeanne Phillips, Chair of the Mayor’s International Advisory Council, and Valérie Baraban, Consul General of France to develop a productive itinerary for the mayor’s visit to Dijon.

Mayor Johnson toured Dijon’s city center, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour was followed by a meeting with Dijon Mayor François Rebsamen and Dijon Deputy Mayor Lydie Pfander-Meny. During the meeting, both mayors expressed gratitude for the long and important sister-city relationship between Dallas and Dijon. Both mayors also discussed the successes and challenges of leading their respective cities and agreed on the importance of access to green spaces.

Finally, leadership from two Dijon-based biotech companies, Crossject and Urgo Group, joined the meeting to share details about their innovations in the healthcare sector.

Mayor Johnson is scheduled to attend additional high-level meetings in Dijon on Tuesday.
