Dallas Selected For Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) Hub

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced the launch of ARPANET-H, a nationwide health innovation network anchored by three Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) regional hubs. After a competitive application process that began in April, the City of Dallas and Pegasus Park have been selected as the home of the ARPA-H Customer Experience Hub, which will focus on developing accessible health solutions with the potential to be readily adopted. The hub will take a proactive approach to diversify clinical trials and reach representative patient populations, leading to better and more equitable health outcomes for all.

"Dallas is honored to be chosen as the home of the ARPA-H Customer Service Hub. It is a significant recognition of Dallas' robust community of top-tier professionals in medical and biomedical research. This would not have been possible without the support of our Congressional delegation and the partnership of our peer cities who joined with us in the effort to bring this institute to Texas. The ARPA-H hub will create an influx of jobs, talent, and innovation and further affirm Dallas' position as a global leader in medical and biomedical research," said Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson.

The Investor Catalyst hub will be located in Cambridge, Mass., in the greater Boston area and will focus on speeding the transition of innovative ideas into practical, accessible solutions by engaging with researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors. The Stakeholder and Operations hub announcement is anticipated later in 2023 and will be adjacent to many intergovernmental partners and stakeholders.

Together, the hubs and spokes will collaborate with ARPA-H to catalyze game-changing breakthroughs in science and medicine that improve health outcomes. ARPANET-H will enable health problems to be solved faster, with accessible, equitable solutions reaching the American public more quickly. The network advances President Biden’s Unity Agenda by driving innovation of new ways to prevent, detect, and treat for cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and other diseases.

The City has been actively working with its partners at Pegasus Park, including UT Southwestern, as well as its Texas Congressional delegation to advocate on behalf of Dallas throughout the process.
