Comic Convention showcases Latine creators in a one-day even
DALLAS - The Latino Cultural Center will be hosting the seventh-annual Texas Latino Comic Con! This year’s celebration of creators and artists will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023 and will be free to the public. The show will feature artists, panels, and workshops centered around comics and creative ventures. Special Guests include author Henry Barajas and Tejano singer and comic book writer Veronique Medrano.
“We are excited to host Texas Latino Comic Con,” said Gerardo Robles, Manager of the Latino Cultural Center. “We take great pride in highlighting our creative Latino/as that have influenced and contributed so much to the comic book industry. This event is all about engaging with the community through free workshops lead by industry professionals while providing a fun and family-friendly event,” said Robles.
The convention is Lucha-themed for the 2023 event, and excitement will be brewing with activities such as working with Mundo Mascaras, a family company local to the DFW metroplex that sells high quality masks, toys and will not only be selling their merchandise but setting up live Lucha for all to come and enjoy!
"Our stories matter!” said Hector Rodriguez, Co-Founder of Texas Latino Comic Con. “With these weary times in our community, we want to uplift and give a sense of pride to our community. Comic books are a powerful vehicle for great stories. Comic books provide a great way to be in somebody else’s shoes. The primary goal of the convention is to lift Latino voices in the comic book industry, both on the creative and consumer sides."
