Our foster team has undergone some exciting changes recently, and we're thrilled to announce the updated roles of each team member. To ensure a quick response, you will continue to email DASFoster@dallas.gov for all your foster-related needs.
David Giersch will continue to serve as our supervisor. If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback for our foster team, David is ready to listen and assist.
Chris Melendez is our new foster coordinator, and his main focuses are foster recruitment, onboarding, and communications. He’s also the perfect person to go to if you have any creative ideas you’d like to see implemented on our foster team!
James Chung is now the foster team liaison to our medical department. If you need assistance with Anipanion or myVCA or have any questions about navigating the DAS medical system, James is available to help. He’ll also be sending reminders about boosters, preventatives, and upcoming surgeries!
Sheldon Williams is focused on getting pets out to foster and supporting them as they get settled in. He’s taking the lead on foster inquiry appointments and will be checking in on fosters throughout their first two weeks out of the shelter.
Melanie Carbajal is your point person for all things adoption! For foster pets who haven’t found that perfect match in the first two weeks, Melanie will be checking in to assist with promotion. She’ll also be your main point of contact if you’re attending adoption events with your foster pet!
These changes should increase efficiency on our team and, in turn, enable us to better support you, our amazing fosters. During this transition, we welcome your feedback and questions about our new team structure!
We are in the process of rolling out our new volunteer foster mentor positions. Sign ups are still open here for anyone interested in being a mentor.
Have a foster and need help promoting them for adoption? Our PR Pro mentors can take your pet from star to SUPERstar!
