 Dallas Pets Are Family Event
Join Dallas Animal Services this Saturday, March 18th as we distribute over 30,000 lbs. of pet food and resources to the community as part of the 3rd DFW Pets are Family event. This event will help reach thousands of people in the Dallas/Fort Worth community and will offer resources to help keep pets in their homes. We need volunteers to help distribute food, assist with traffic control, set up, clean up and connect with the public about Dallas Animal Services!
The event will be held at the Dallas County Tax Office (8301 S. Polk St.) from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Any amount of help you can provide will be appreciated! We have a shift from 7:30 AM -1:30 PM, or if you aren't able to commit to the whole event, we have shifts open from 7:30-10 AM & 10 AM -1:30 PM.

New Position Alert - YouTube Video Assistant!
A picture is worth a thousand words, but a video is as good as gold! Simple videos can make all the difference in a pet's adoptability. Sign up to help our online presence today!
Shifts are available daily from 12 - 6 PM. Instruction sheets for this position can be found at the volunteer cubby, near the FURtography instructions.
Virtual / Remote Foster Volunteer Positions
Do you foster as well as volunteer? Are you looking to volunteer virtually or remote? Next month we are rolling out 4 new volunteer positions to support fosters!
The new positions will be:

PR Pro - Coaching fosters as they market their pets online with photos, bios, and social media posts (with cute photos like the one pictured right).

Adopets Advisor - Helps fosters as they navigate Adopets and respond to adopters.
- Behavior Bestie - Helps with basic training and minor behavior issues.
- Welcome Wagon - Welcomes new fosters to help them navigate their first foster pet.
- DAS Delivery - Gives foster pets ride to and from the shelter when their foster parent can't.
- Cat Comrade - Assists with cat testing (must have a dog-friendly cat).
If you are not a current foster, you will need to get up to speed on foster processes before being able to assist with these positions. Additional training required for some of the shifts.

 Not-So-Foolish Onsite Event April 1st!
We need volunteer help for an on-site event on April 1st! Volunteers will help set up for the event, check people in for their vaccines or spay/neuter surgeries, direct guests to the correct space for the resources they're looking for, and help break down after the event.

Kitten Nursery
Kitten Nursery will be starting back up on April 1st! You do not need to have your Feline Handling training to be eligible to work in the kitten nursery. We are making a few changes to the program this year, including moving the nursery to the "Pre-K" room inside the main building. The trailer will still be in use, but will only house sick kittens.
A background check is required for this position. If you would like to complete or update your background check in advance, please email us at DASVolunteer@dallas.gov and we can send you the instructions!

Help Support the Pet Food Pantry
