Join us for our first SDCC Music Lounge of the season! Maya Piata is a soul-stress staple in the Dallas music scene. Her stage presence mixed with her sultry vocals creates a unique and engaging experience for the audience. Amari Amore is a 22-year-old Indie Alt/Folk Singer-Songwriter from the DFW, Texas area. She attended Booker T. Washington High School For the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas where she studied classical guitar. All ticket donations benefit Swan Strings and its mission to create free music education in South Dallas.
During tomorrow's concert, guests will have the opportunity to view SDCC's current exhibitions: Sacred Seeds: Communicating Through Hair Systems by Inyang Essien and Black Legend Heirloom Camika Spencer.

Trinity River Audubon Center Photo Walk
Saturday, Oct. 29 | 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. | Trinity River Audubon Center
Grab your camera and take part in our photo walk with the Dallas Center for Photography at the Trinity River Audubon Center! We invite you to hang out with fellow photographers and trade tips, tricks, and tales as you photograph your way around the center. All ages, skill levels, and camera types are welcome to participate. This two hour, in-person walk will blend both instructor lead touring and independent exploration of the Trinity River Audubon Center.
Note: Due to possible inclement weather, we encourage participants to wear rain boots and a light jacket. If there's lighting and thunder, event may be postponed.

Generation X and Beyond: Let's Talk About It | The Accommodation

Join us for a two-day conversation and fellowship over information, transformation and healing hosted by the South Dallas Cultural Center and moderated by Camika Spencer, a 2022 Juanita J. Craft Artist-in-Residence. There will be food provided by Sunny South Dallas Food Park, vendors, activities, art, and panel discussions.
In a two-day retrospective, Generation X and Beyond: Let’s Talk About | The Accommodation will allow members of Generation X and Beyond to discuss Jim Shultze’s book, as well as, view two short films: Bon Ton and Out of Deep Wood to shed light on and uncover information that until now, has been vaulted and racially-biased. The purpose of this conversation is to simply discuss what we didn’t know and how this lack of knowledge has affected our presence in Dallas
