With the temperatures exceeding 100 degrees lately, we want to remind staff to ensure they are staying hydrated and keeping cool. If you feel yourself getting overheated or lightheaded, please notify your supervisor and take a break. Find a cool place to sit, rest, and rehydrate. We want everyone to stay safe in this intense heat!
As COVID-19 cases are on the rise again, please take note of the City of Dallas COVID Leave policy. Please refer to the section on employee leave (page 11) of the FAQs. Remember, vaccine leave is not the same as Q leave - read the policy and ask your supervisor if you have questions!
If you haven't done so already, please complete your city badge form. We are soon transitioning our doors to badge swipes instead of codes and you'll need a badge to enter the building or employee only areas!

Maddie’s Fund, in concert with American Pets Alive!, hosts a weekly hour-long Zoom call for animal welfare workers and volunteers. While these calls started out as a response to COVID-19, it’s grown into so much more. These calls are a safe place to discuss uncomfortable topics, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.
This call, recurring each Monday unless otherwise posted, is primarily for shelter workers, volunteers and rescue organizations.
