Shoutout to Paul Bady, Richard Havens and Dr. Horne
Last Saturday, June 4, DAS participated in the CUDDLY-sponsored "Dallas Pets Are Family" event. The event was a huge hit. Along with Spay Neuter Network, Dallas Pets Alive, Operation Kindness, Dogs Matter, Petco Love, Maddie's Fund, and GoodPup, we were able to provide more than 40,000 pounds of pet food and 200+ vaccines to animals in our community. Thank you so much to all of the DAS staff and volunteers who helped make this event possible! Richard and Paul were instrumental in the planning and execution for DAS and we're grateful their hard work paid off big time. Dr. Horne was the veterinarian on-hand and this event would not have been possible without him!
The Field Services team would like to thank Richard for stepping up and handling things while Field has been understaffed!
Dawn Darby wanted to give Jonathan a shoutout for his assistance!
"I'm on light duty trying to help the Field out by calling on all these calls. Many times, I have needed help and gone to Jonathan, he is always here, helpful, nice, and extremely knowledgeable! I do not know what I would have done without all his help. I wanted him recognized for his dedication and knowledge!"

Veterinary care is expensive, and can be hard to access—causing pets to go without needed treatments, and be given up to shelters. This in turn contributes to burnout among shelter workers, veterinarians, and veterinary staff. The Open Door Veterinary Collective is working to change that. This nonprofit, founded in 2021, has developed a business model for nonprofit, for-profit, and government veterinary clinics that prioritizes access to care, and increased revenue. In addition to helping keep families together and pets unnecessarily out of shelters, Open Door sees this model as helping prevent compassion fatigue in veterinarians and staff.
This webinar is about the Open Door Veterinary Collective hosted by Dr. Sara Pizano, the founder of Team Shelter USA, author of The Best Practice Playbook for Animal Shelters, and a national trainer for Open Door, and panelists, Mandy Combs, Veterinary Practice Manager at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton Veterinary Services, Dr. Stephanye Quinn, Staff Veterinarian at the Community Pet Care Clinic in Toledo, Ohio and Veterinary Ambassador for the Open Door Veterinary Collective National Training team, and Dr. Lisa Labrecque, Director of Veterinary Services at the Humane Society of Sonoma County. Learn how this model can work for you and your community. We encourage veterinarians, directors, and staff of for-profit and public vet clinics and hospitals to watch, as well as shelter staff and directors, and veterinary-related shelter community partners.
This webinar was recorded on May 24 - watch now.

Please remember to wear an apron and gloves whenever handling an animal and always change both between each animal. If you see a member of the public sticking their hands through kennel bars, please kindly remind them to not attempt to touch the animals to avoid spreading disease.
