As alluded to in a recent Director Huddle meeting, we've been examining how to provide the best support to our foster and volunteer programs, and to that end, we've added two new positions! The first position is a second Volunteer Coordinator, and we'll specifically be looking for a bilingual candidate to provide better outreach and support to Spanish-speaking volunteers.
The second position is a Manager of Community Engagement who will oversee both the foster and volunteer programs. This change should improve the alignment of both programs and provide the structure needed to continue growing and improving. As of Wednesday, April 6th, I am acting as the interim for this new role, and I'm very excited to be working more closely with our wonderful foster team.
I can't wait to see how much we can accomplish as we continue to grow together!
Best,
Sarah Sheek

Adoption fees will be resuming soon! We don't have a specific date in mind, but we wanted to give you a a heads up that you will be seeing adoption fees again in the near future.
With the addition of fees, you'll also be seeing new Adoption Promotions, where free and reduced cost adoptions are used strategically to increase positive outcomes. We'll be sure to announce current Adoption Promotions in every newsletter, but you can also stop by the adoption desk at the beginning of every shift to familiarize yourself with the current promotion.
We also have some pets who will remain free, including those who have been in the shelter for 2+ weeks, heartworm positive dogs, foster pets, and pets in our treatment rooms. You can check the Adoption Fee sign in out lobby for more details about our fees.

Where do you work?
We're looking for DFW companies that are still allowing employees to work from home and/or allow pets in the office. Does that apply to your company? We want to partner with your HR department to promote kitten fostering! These adorable coworkers will never "reply all" to an all staff email or reheat fish in the microwave. Connect us with your HR department so we can get these kittens on your payroll today!

Have you seen our new adoption van?! We're so excited to start taking it to offsite adoption events. Want to be a part of our offsite events team? We'll be launching a team soon, so keep an eye out for that announcement!
Safety Reminder
Please remember that you should never be taking a toy out of a dog's mouth! Even a friendly dog can accidentally nip or scratch you with their tooth when excited, and we don't want dogs sent to quarantine when they were just being playful. Try taking two toys out to the yard, so you can toss the one the dog isn't currently holding!
DAS is Hiring!
