Dallas - The City of Dallas Board of Adjustment will hold a special meeting to hear feedback from residents on how the Board’s decisions have positively or negatively impacted land use issues in their neighborhoods from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022. The meeting will be held via videoconference and in 6ES at City Hall. All virtual speakers will be required to show their video to address the board.
Individuals who wish to speak in accordance with the Board of Adjustment Rules of Procedure by joining the meeting virtually, should register online at https://bit.ly/BofAdjustment or contact the Planning and Urban Design Department at 214-670-4209 by close of business Jan. 10, 2022.
The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body empowered by Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code, and the Dallas Development Code. The Board is charged with considering requests to relax the strict application of development code regulations to properties. Additionally, the Board is authorized to hear appeals of administrative decisions by city staff in enforcing and interpreting zoning regulations, and requests regarding nonconforming uses and structures including the amortization of nonconforming uses. Decisions made by the Board on behalf of the City are final and can only be appealed to District Court.
The Board of Adjustment is composed of 15 members and six alternates appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The types of issues the Board of Adjustment review include parking, landscape, tree preservation, sign, fence height to name a few.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting virtually, however, City Hall is available for those wishing to attend the meeting in person following all current pandemic-related public health protocols.
