Día de los Muertos: The Everlasting Bond
Exhibition Dates: October 16-November 6, 2021
Weekend Celebration: Sunday, October 17 (12-6 PM)
The Bath House Cultural Center presents Día de los Muertos: The Everlasting Bond, the gallery’s 35th annual Day of the Dead exhibition from October 16 to November 6, 2021.
The public is invited to participate in the show's weekend celebration on Sunday, October 17, from 12-6 PM, where they will meet some of the artists in presence, enjoy live music by Andean group Vision Andina and other Latin American performers, as well as other art activities throughout the day. All the events are free and open to the public.
The exhibition features Day of the Dead altars and visual art in a variety of media. The works featured in the show are inspired by the concept of the personal connections that bond people together and reflect the predominant idea observed during the festivity of the Day of the Dead that human relationships can outlast separation and even death. During the Day of the Dead, people use altars, art, food, music, and other celebratory elements to express the conviction that, despite being physically apart, we are still together and we remain connected. That sense of everlasting bond serves as the central inspiration for the exhibition.
The artists participating in the exhibition include iAM 450, Karen Eliza Aguilar, Eva Azul, Rita Barnard, Laura Beikman, Angie Bolling, Dana Janene Brock, Dwayne Carter, Vicki Charlotta, Megan Chichester, Sharin Clark, Anysha Cokes, Gail Delger, Lori Dudley, Dan Dudley, Brett Dyer, Jacque Forsher, Merry Fuhrer, Pastor García, Ann Gaspari, Angel Gonzales, Erica Guajardo, Vera Guillén, José Ángel Hernández, Juán J.
