Mayor Eric Johnson joins Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations
DALLAS — Mayor Eric Johnson on Friday announced that he has joined the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations.
The Committee, the largest council operating under the Committee on Foreign Relations' umbrellas, unanimously approved the mayor's nomination this week. The Committee hosts speakers and facilitates dialogue among local leaders about international affairs. More information is available at dallascfr.org.
Joining the Committee will help expand Mayor Johnson's push to enhance the city's global economic ties and international stature — a key part of his Build for the Future agenda for Dallas.
"I am thrilled to join the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations," Mayor Johnson said. "Dallas is already a global player, and this new relationship between the Committee and the mayor's office will help our city continue to grow in an increasingly interconnected world."
The announcement comes after DFW International Airport on Thursday announced a new direct Turkish Airlines flight between Dallas and Istanbul. Mayor Johnson is an airport board member.
"This is another major win for Dallas as we continue to grow our city’s global stature and economic ties," Mayor Johnson said.
Mayor Johnson also serves as a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors International Affairs Committee and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
