The Fourth of July – also known as Independence Day has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941. It marks the anniversary of the Second Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Police Memorial Day Service

The Police Memorial Day Service will be held on 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7 beginning with a march to the Police Memorial from Griffin at Young Street to Young at Akard Street.

Let us begin by reflecting on the faithful fallen officers that lost their lives in the line of duty. In Loving Memory of Dallas Police Officers Lorne Ahrens, Dallas Police Officers Michael Krol, Dallas Police Officers Michael Smith, Dallas Police Officers Patrick Zamarripa and DART Officer Brent Thompson.
