July 1, 2021 | Issue 33

Message from the City Manager and Chief of Equity and Inclusion

Dear residents of Dallas,

As summer comes to the city and the temperatures continue to climb, take advantage of the numerous summer enrichment opportunities available for your little ones and teenagers, from the comfort of your home or at the various recreations centers across the city! The city is proud to sponsor various recreational opportunities alongside community organization offering educational programs to help students implement strategies during the school year.

Enrichment programming during the summer helps promote better overall mental health for students, and we encourage all our newsletter readers to also take advantage of the mental health resources being highlighted in honor of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mental Health Month. July has been nationally designated as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month! Bebe Moore Campbell was a best-selling author, journalist, and mental health advocate who sought to bring national awareness to the mental health struggles of Black people. She worked to remove the stigma surrounding mental health conversations and joined forced with established organizations to redirect resources to underserved communities.
