World War II Army Veterans - 4 Medals of Honor
Celebrating 99 Years
WHEREAS, Mr. Cal D. McCowin was born on April 4, 1922 in Center, Texas in Shelby County Texas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cal D. McCowin served in the United States Army during World War from March 1943 until he was honorably discharged on February 4, 1946; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cal D. McCowin received four (4) Medals of Honor: (1) The Bronze Star Good Conduct Medal, (2) World War II Victory Medal, (3) The American Campaign Medal, and (4) The European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cal D. McCowin has been a resident of Dallas for over 65 years, residing at 1602 Hortense for over 52 years.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carolyn King Arnold, District 4 Council Member for the City of Dallas, do hereby extend Birthday Wishes to Mr. Cal D. McCowin:

Here Comes Kindergarten
School Readiness Series
Starting Kindergarten can be scary for parents and children! Dallas Public Library is offering a six-week series of online workshops for children and parents designed to build confidence, school readiness, and social emotional skills. Each week will include a story, songs, interactive activities, and projects for “homework.” Over the course of the program, all the letters of the alphabet and numbers 1 to 10 will be covered, as well as topics important for kindergarten success including colors, shapes, patterns, compound words, feelings, following directions, hygiene, and more.
