Statement by Council Member Carolyn King Arnold on the death of Merci Mack

Dallas, Texas – Council Member Carolyn King Arnold issued the following statement regarding Merci Richey Mack: 

“I offer my most sincere condolences to the family of Merci Mack during their season of grief. Merci was a Black transgender female who was shot and killed on June 30.”

“The Dallas Police Department and The North Texas Fugitive Task Force announced the arrest of a suspect in her death earlier this week. Details provided by a witness helped in the investigation of her murder. Information provided by the witness is the action that is necessary to address criminal activity. 

“The lives of the members of the transgender communities and all communities matter.  It is important, in light of the death of Merci Mack that we remain committed to promoting public safety and a quality of life for all in the city of Dallas.  I continue to encourage all residents to stay vigilant and report all crimes and suspicious activity to the proper authorities by calling 911.”
